I’ll make this review as short as possible. As expected we got a flashback of Rebecca, her mother and the Toy Soldier. This of course was to explain what happened ten years ago when Doflamingo and the Donquixote Family came to Dressrosa and they framed the Riku Royal Family for burning a village, thus dethroning them. I honestly thought this flashback was going to be longer (at least 3 chapters long), but I guess Oda chose the quick route, but still I thought it was good.
The Donquixote Family killed anyone who was a part of the Riku Family and since Rebecca is the granddaughter of the former king, she is forced to fight in the Colosseum. We still did not get an answer on who is the Devil Fruit user that has the ability to turn people into toys, but I’m sure we will know eventually. As I mentioned before, I believe it is the Spades guy. I wonder if we are going to get another flashback, that will explain the history of Dressrosa even more.
The chapter concludes with Rebecca entering the ring with the audience jeering her as they were deceived by Doflamingo that the Riku Family were responsible for burning the village.
Overall, I thought this was a good chapter, as it started explaining Dressrosa’s history. I wonder if Rebecca throwing away her shield and entering the Battle Royal with only a sword has anything to do with Kyros. As mentioned before, Kyros only fights with a sword and he does not use a shield, so I wonder if this is another hint by Oda about the relationship between Kyros and Rebecca.
One Piece will be on a break next week.
